Loss prevention tips for your business’s vehicles.
If your business is always on the move, you may have one – if not several – commercial vehicles. Having a vehicle provides your business with benefits such as advertising, marketing, equipment storage, and transporting employees efficiently. To help protect your team, business, and investment, take a look at these loss prevention tips.
Maintain the vehicle(s)
Regular maintenance is important for every vehicle – personal and commercial alike. Servicing ensures that your vehicle runs well and that any issues are addressed immediately before failures occur. As well as taking it into the auto shop, ensure your team has a daily inspection checklist to stay ahead of issues.
Stock it up
Make sure that your commercial vehicle is properly equipped with the necessary tools. Keep a flashlight, batteries, spare tire, tire jack, drinking water, blankets, and a first aid kit in the vehicle at all times.
Hire trustworthy drivers
Loss prevention also includes making sure you know who is behind the wheel of your fleet. Make sure to check the following when thinking about potential drivers:
- Previous employment records
- Driver training and certification
- Driving record check
- Drug testing
Lock it up
Your commercial vehicle(s) should be stored away safely when not in use. Install an anti-theft device in each vehicle and hide valuable items away from sight. If possible, shut your vehicle away in a locked garage.
