When the sun is shining, more motorcyclists will be out on the road enjoying the wind in their hair. This means you have to be incredibly aware that motorbikes are often hidden in your blind spot and trying to maneuverer around you. Before you make a move on the road, be sure to thoroughly check your blind spot, signal in advance, and ensure no bike is next to you.
Tourists
Tourists are notorious for driving slowly and merging into lanes at the last minute as they try to figure out where they’re going. If you find yourself stuck behind a tourist, be patient. Avoid getting angry and blowing your horn, which may only make matters worse. Instead, leave plenty of room between your vehicle and theirs and only overtake when necessary.
Distracted Pedestrians
Longer days and warmer temperatures bring people outside and onto roadways. Distracted pedestrians focused on their friends or phones only increases the danger. Be sure to watch out for pedestrians, especially in urban areas. Reduce your speed when approaching crosswalks and red lights, even if you don’t see pedestrians and you have a green light. Look out for people more than once before turning.
