Wash the Boat
The easiest task is to simply wash the boat, and do so regularly. This goes double if you boat in salt water. Salt not only corrodes the underbelly of your boat faster, but it can mar the gelcoat as well. Make sure to rinse your boat thoroughly after every outing to assure the good condition of your boat. Use a long-handled, soft-bristle boat brush and some good soap!
Check the Propeller
Removing and inspecting the propeller a few times throughout the season is an important part of the maintenance process. Checking the propeller for any dents, nicks, and other signs of damage is a must. Any signs of damage can cause your boat to lose performance and burn more fuel than necessary. A damaged propeller can also vibrate and put stress on other parts of the boat.
Change the Oil
Just as you do with your car, you have to change the oil in your boat. The frequency of oil change changes by model of the boat, but a safe rule of thumb is to change the oil once for every one-hundred hours of operation.
